THERMO-AURICULAR® THERAPY - (Use of Hopi Ear Candles)

What is Thermo-Auricular® Therapy?

Thermo-Auricular Therapy, the use of Hopi Ear Candles, is a pleasant and non-invasive treatment of the ears, used to treat a variety of conditions. These ear candles induce a revitalising heat upon the head and ears, which soothe, relieve and relax.

The History of Hopi Ear Candles

This ancient and natural therapy has been handed down to us through the mists of time by many civilizations.

We are told that many ancient cultures including the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks and early Aborigines used ear candles; initially they were doubtless reeds employed for cleansing, possibly purifying and healing on a spiritual level. Much later the use of hollow twigs and a crude form of pottery cone was used; the amazing efficiency of the candles on a purely physical level was also discovered. We meet many people from the Mediterranean and Latin American Countries who remember receiving ear candle treatments as children. It was thought that the practice of ear candle treatment reached the rest of the world from the Native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona - a fact that is not acknowledged or endorsed by them.

THE HOPI TRIBE - A PEOPLE OF PEACE

Hopi means 'peaceful ones' or 'people of peace'. The Hopi's were the first settled Pueblo Indians of the North American Continent. For many centuries they lived in harmony with nature, using Fire, herbs, smoke & heat adhering to original universal laws passed down to them by the great creator Massuu. Their responsible treatment of Mother Earth, their cultural standards, universal spirituality and pronounced knowledge of healing still underline the prominent status of these people.

The Hopi people are rapidly gaining respect for this extensive knowledge and great spirituality.

Hopi is the 'brand name' given to the candles by the manufacturer BiØsun. It was a notion that the practice of ear candle treatment reached the rest of the world from the Native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona - a fact that is neither acknowledged nor endorsed by them.

How does Hopi Ear Candles Work?

The candles are made from the natural ingredients of beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St Johns Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax. The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. They equalise the pressure in the head and ears, making them suitable for most conditions. The secretion flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits. Most of these are carried away through the candle "chimney", although some of them can be found in the condensed candle wax residue after removal from the ear, or could even work their way up to the surface 24-48 hours after

What is a typical Treatment?

You are asked to lie on a couch and listen to relaxing music. The candle is then gently placed into the auditory canal and then lit. It is held in a vertical position with my hands keeping the candle steady. You will experience a pleasant crackling sound as the candle burns and a warm comfortable feeling. After the candle burns down, the candle is taken away while you lie for a few moments before turning over to treat the other ear. Clients find the whole experience very relaxing and some will even fall asleep during the treatment.
